OTTAWA - There will be no golden eggs in this winter's federal budget for Opposition MPs with their hands out.  Finance Minister Jim Flaherty kicked off the budget consultation season Friday with a speech at the Canadian Club in Toronto, and left little or no room for anyone looking to derail the government's cost-cutting agenda.

Flaherty said if European leaders moved aggressively and with decisiveness to address the crisis and restore financial market stability and confidence, the situation can be stabilized.  "However, to date, such action has yet to be taken and the crisis remains far from resolved."

Flaherty said if European leaders continue to dither, future generations will inherit unsustainable debt burdens.

"It will mean, and we have seen this already, social unrest and instability in those societies."

OTTAWA: In a shocking turn of events in Ottawa, Canadian Finance Minister Flaherty and the OCCUPY movement appear to be in complete agreement on a number of social and financial issues.

“There are going to be a number of goose eggs in this winter's federal budget and a lot of Canadians are going to be left with their hands out,” says Anne T. Trust of the OCCUPY movement.

Ms Trust continued her comments by saying “Mr Flaherty is correct in saying that continued dithering and a failure to deal with unsustainable personal debt burdens will lead to social unrest.”

The government must move aggressively and with decisiveness to address the current crisis of confidence and it must restore financial stability to Canadians. "However, to date, such action has yet to be taken and the crisis in Canada remains far from resolved."
